I am a matcha girlie through and through and somehow this place hadnt come up on my list of places in LA to try. The menu pulled me in as I could see it from outside. I ordered an iced vanilla matcha latte and was very excited because they state that they use ceremonial grade matcha. I found the vanilla to be pretty overpowering and instead of a typical vanilla, it tasted more like vanilla bean. The staff is super helpful and when they delivered my drink they told me to let them know if I needed any adjustments. If I find myself in the area again, I might ask for less vanilla so I can still get that earthy matcha flavor. I also saw they have a seasonal toasted marshmallow matcha which is really enticing. They have cookies for sale as well that looked good, if you're looking for a little snack.

Matcha swirled with Hojicha soft serve was a yummy, mildly sweet and moderately tea flavored treat! I could have used a stronger matcha flavor and seemed a little pricey for $7.50. There are also Matcha tea drinks, scones, Blondie bars, etc. This was a nice dessert to take on the go while walking around Little Tokyo. @grace.loves.socal #grace.loves.adventures

The matcha soft serve is so deeply flavored and creamy and it does remind me of what I can get in Tokyo. I got the flavor mix, but I think next time I'll just get a single flavor. Because both flavors were strong, it kind of meld into each other and became confusing on my tongue. The size appears smaller than what I remembered from past visits. $7.00 total for soft serve and waffle cone. It hits the spot and I was too full to order a drink. That's ok, it's a good excuse to come back. Parking can be difficult during peak times with street parking. There are lots that are from $8-$20 in the area also.

Located in Little Tokyo, the shop is more so well known for its matcha soft serve than their drinks, but the lattes are also pretty good. We got just the matcha and hojicha swirl. The soft serve has a matcha flavor and their hojicha is strong as well. Their drinks are on the expensive side, but the soft serve is pretty worth it. They have a lot of matcha and hojicha that you can buy, it is very cutely decorated with neon signs and a display case of bamboo whisks. Excited to try their drinks next time I'm here.

Just outside of Kinokuniya Los Angeles is Midori cafe. It is matcha everything. They also have hojicha which is another form of green tea. Hojicha has a smoky, earthy, and slightly sweet flavor, while matcha has a vegetal, grassy, and savory flavor. I tried the hojicha lavender latte because I love lavender anything. It was different from matcha, more of an earthy flavor and I found it to be less sweet than matcha. We also had matcha soft serve which was really good.
